Ashraful Uloom is affiliated to the National Muslim Prison Board - South Africa (NMPB), the official board by the Department of Correctional Services which represents Muslim prisoners in South Africa. We believe that spiritual guidance is the cornerstone of rehabilitation, transformation and re-integration for offenders. Our mission is to provide spiritual guidance and Islamic knowledge to inmates through our team of Muslim Spiritual Care workers.
Ashraful Uloom provides spiritual and educational programmes to around 200 inmates at the Leeuwkop Correctional Center. We also provide Ramadaan and Eid hampers. We also assist the NMPB with the training of current and new spiritual care workers in all provinces in South Africa. It is our belief that through spiritual upliftment, offenders can be re-integrated to society and become an inspiration to others and assist in reducing the high levels of crime in South Africa.
